The 26 List

For those of you who have been here since November you will know the drill, but for those of you who haven’t then I will break down what the 26 list is. Basically the 26 list is 26 things I want to do before my next birthday. I’m not a big fan of New Years and making revaluations, however I am a big fan of self-development and growth. I feel setting goals really helps me to focus on getting what I want out of life and helps me to see my progress. The number co-insides with how old I will be on my next birthday, so 26 list = 26 years in age. And once I’ve turned 26 I will do a new list and call it the 27 list (27! *gulp!*). I’ve made a note to review my 26 list every 3 months to track my progress.

I wrote my list with Covid very much in mind and how it has added a lot of restrictions to what we all want to do in our lives. Due to that I have added some goals that might seem very small and simple such as going to my favourite restaurant. To borrow what I had said in my original 26 list post – goals don’t need to be big things and don’t need to change your life, they can be any shape or size you like them to be. Some of my goals are in my comfort zone, some I know will take a lot of hard work. No matter the size I know that each one will give me the opportunity to grow and discover something new about myself.

So with that, here is my list and my added progress:

1 . Write at least one blog post a month.
So far so good!

2 . Read 10 books.
So far so good! I have read Counselling for Toads, Mum Life, The Salt Path and the first book in the Bridgeton series!

3 . Finish and achieve my level 3 counselling skills course.
I believe I am now more than half way through my course! Which is a little scary!

4 . Apply to level 4 counselling skills course.
Done! And I’ve been offered a place on the course!

5 . Go on holiday, even if its a little weekend break at an air BnB.
There is talk of possibly going away when lockdown lifts!

6 . Get back into an activity/sport. Maybe swimming, walking or yoga.
Haven’t done any of these but my partner and I have bought a Ring Fit, so I’m counting that!

7 . Save £500.

8 . Eat at my favourite restaurant.

9 . Write a letter to myself to open in five years on my 30th birthday.

10 . Visit a landmark in England that I have never been to before.

11 . Finish knitting the scarf I started two years ago.

12 . Learn sign language – do a course.

13 . Start a new diary

14 . Start a mental health blog/start talking about mental health on this blog.
Kind of – I have started a Facebook page called Being where I promote positive mental health. You can check it out here if you’re interested.

15 . Get an Indian head massage.

16 . Get my hair cut professionally.
This is a fun story….. but yes, I’ve had my hair cut professionally… I’m actually in need of another cut soon!

17 . Move in with my partner.

18 . Grow my Body Shop team.

19 . Understand the blogging community better.
Maybe? I’ve been mingling a lot on Twitter and loving it! I’ve also found a super supportive community of bloggers there.

20 . Go strawberry picking.

21 . Subscribe to Planet Mindful.

22 . Buy myself a bunch of flowers every month.
I did this for December and January but I’m a little low on money at the moment so I have been unable to treat myself.

23 . Visit the seaside.

24 . Keep a house plant alive that isn’t a catus.
So far so good! I have a lily and a blahblah (I don’t remember the name of it) and they have been living in the flat for about 2 months I believe! Very pleased that I’ve managed to take care of them and give them what they need. The cold weather isn’t good for them at the moment though!

25 . Go Swimming.

26 . Buy myself my favourite perfume.

After I made this list I thought of another goal I wanted to do this year – to walk. I set this goal because I want to lose weight and fit into a size 16. I want to help my joints and mental health. I also set this goal because I want to be within nature, become more mindful and to see new things.
At the moment I haven’t done much walking and a blame the weather. It’s cold and wet and I know I shouldn’t use that as an excuse, but who really wants to go walking in that kind of weather?
I’m feeling mildly ambitions about this list. There is 8 months to complete them which is a good chunk of time to get things done! So far I’m really focused on reading as I have a lot to do for my counselling course, and making sure I get at least one blog post up a month.

Thanks for reading! Toodle-pip!

    1. Haha! Well like I said on my post it can be as small or as big as you like! You could have some easy quick ones on there to do or have a goal that has different parts to it 🙂
